How to determine your "A" dimension using Hydraulic Bearing. T-56/T-56 Magnum

This measurement is for GM/Ford/Dodge T-56/T-56 Magnum Transmissions.

Before starting the measurements to your "A" and "B" dimensions, please make sure you have the proper measuring equipement to take this precision measurement. Tape measure is not precise enough for this job. Please find/invest/rent a measuring device with at least a .00 decimal point measurement capability. This is an absolute critical requirement to get the correct measurement.


This chart is to help determine what series hydraulic bearing you need. Before you begin your measurement please make sure to have your entire clutch assembly installed on the back of the motor and torqued down to the factory specifications, this includes Flywheel, Disc,Pressure Plate,Block Plate (if used) and Bellhousing.
Measure from the bellhousing flange to the fingers on the pressure plate and establish you’re “A” dimension. Then measure from the bearing face when compressed to the flange on the intermediate plate that mates to the bellhousing flange This is your "B" Dimension (See picture Below). You want your “A” dimension to be .100″ to .150″ greater than your “B” dimension. If your dimension is out of this range and depending on what bearing you have (
1300 series) or (1400 series) you can either change the length of your piston(1300 Series Bearing) or make an adjustment to your adjustment screw (1400 Series Bearing) each full turn is .060″ of adjustment.


NOTE: Make sure to subtract the thickness of the straight edge to get a accurate measurement!

NOTE: The Arrow pointing to the Bellhousing is intended to be measured from outside the bellhousing flange.
